*BLINK* and just like that the festive season is upon us yet again after a year of crazy plot-twists and outcomes nobody could have predicted. It’s safe to say that we are starting to get a little impatient of waiting for the clock to strike midnight on New Year’s Eve to end this year of madness.
We all know that Christmas is going to be a little different this year and we may not be able to stick to the traditions that we usually have but whats to stop us from creating new ones? There may not be any parties lasting through the night or huge gatherings, no crazy work parties resulting in hungover staff the next day and it’s unlikely we’ll see the markets swarming with crowds. But, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still unleash our festive spirit and enjoy the magic at home. We can still have all the presents under the tree, stuff our faces with too much food, watch awful TV and have a laugh with a glass or two.
On the bright side, it’s the perfect excuse to turn your home into a little winter wonderland because let’s be honest, we’ve all got much more time on our hands! The summer months saw us all flee outside and make our back yards good enough for a Royal Garden Party, so, now the cold has crept in along with lockdown number 2, why not be creative and make your own little grotto? The kids will love the feeling of being in a Fairytale scene and even the grown ups could use a little sparkle in these uncertain times.
To get you in the spirit, here at The Garden Centre we’ve turned our shop into a Christmas Cabin selling a huge range of decorations (hanging and standing) from baubles and ornaments to wreaths and Gonks galore! We have more than enough to turn your home into a mini Santa Village. It’s also a great opportunity to do a little gift shopping with our Lifestyle Store next door, we have the perfect presents and stocking fillers for any person in your life.
While you’re here why not pick up a fresh bit of greenery for your living room? Our new range of Christmas trees are a little special and unlike any you will have had before. As you may well be aware we are very much into helping the environment which is why we encourage you to purchase your tree from our local business. Not only do they look incredible covered in a glorious amount of lights and baubles but they make an impact on your carbon footprint. By shopping local you reduce your travel time; did you know that a 90 minute car journey can take a single tree up to 10 years to filter all the c02 emitted? What can also make a big impact is recycling your tree once it’s time to undo all your creative work. Compost the natural tree to use as mulch in your garden or have it picked up by the council and turned into chipping and this could reduce your footprint by up to 80%.
Every tree that we get from our British supplier has planted another in its place. They currently own over 1 million Christmas trees which equivalates to 350 acres of lungs filtering up to 22 million kg of c02 from the atmosphere every year! Not only do the tress benefit the environment but you have the added bonus of knowing that they are locally grown and cut to order as well as giving off incredible fragrance and adding the ‘wow’ factor to your home. Why settle for a bog standard artificial one when you can get a true sense of woodland for such a little price?

He will be in his grotto on our site on selected dates through December (05/06/12/13/19/20/21/22/23, 12:00-15:00). The Garden Centre and Lifestyle Store remains open 9:00-17:00 every day. In the restaurant we are offering a limited takeaway menu and our homemade scones at weekends and our huge range of mouthwatering cakes as well as hot drinks are available every day so you won’t be deprived of a treat when you visit us!
