No, you’re not dreaming, it is really happening… life as we knew it is slowly coming back to us… Good old Boris has given retail and hospitality the long awaited nod to reopen their doors to the public and put a smile on everyone’s face once again! (Well we can assume there’s a smile it’s hard to tell under the face masks but that’s just a small inconvenience we have learnt to deal with).
It has been a very long and tough year for everyone, particularly these past 5 months as life here in England sadly came to a holt with many businesses having to close their doors permanently with the loss of any income. The pandemic has affected us all much more than we expected.
Here at the Mountain Restaurant we have done ourselves proud and have been lucky enough to continue to serve our lovely customers on our takeaway bar, serving snacks, cakes, scones and hot drinks as well as takeaway Sunday lunches and afternoon teas. It was different to what we are used to but it was great to be a part of a new challenge for such a well loved business. We are grateful to everyone that came and supported us and made our set up a success. You have helped our business stay afloat so we are now able to continue to offer you our excellent service, cosy Alpine atmosphere and unique menu. Yes, that means you can get excited because all of the homemade scones, humungous cakes and pans loaded with melting cheese are back and waiting to put you in a food coma!
We know it is still a challenging and scary time for many of you which is why we have adapted our way of hosting and made it a comfortable environment that you can feel safe and relaxed in while you treat yourselves to a long awaited and much deserved feast!
Some of the changes we have made include a one way system around the restaurant area, masks mandatory when inside and sanitising stations dotted all around for regular use, NHS Track and Trace Log in required for all guests, everything is table/waitress service meaning you don’t have to leave your seat and finally the biggest and best improvement… the extension of our front patio area with a newly built canapé meaning you can sit undercover.
The sun shines through but keeps you protected from the good old British rain (or as we’ve recently seen, the snow) meaning there is no reason to let the weather spoil your plans to reunite with family and friends!
We have already received many compliments on the facelift, lots of mentions of it feeling like a dainty tavern you would find in a holiday resort and with the fluffy blankets and cushions to help keep you cosy, it is a very warm, homely and welcoming Alpine atmosphere. Of course with the success of the Takeaway bar we will continue to offer the service of takeaway food including cakes, hot drinks, Sunday lunches and our extremely popular afternoon teas for anyone that would feel more at ease dining in the comfort of their own home.
